The Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington lives out the Corporal Work of Mercy, Burying the Dead, by accompanying bereaved families as they honor their beloved dead with hope in the Resurrected Lord.

We seek employees who take seriously the Christian imperative to pray for the dead and to comfort those who mourn. Our cemeteries are located in the District of Columbia and Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and St. Mary’s County in Maryland. Washington, D.C.

Mount Olivet Cemetery
General Utility: Mount Olivet Cemetery in Washington, DC has an immediate opening for a reliable, hard-working individual with a high school education or GED, and a clean driver’s record. Responsibilities include lawn care, dig, backfill and tamp graves, install grave monuments and markers, and general grounds maintenance. Must be able to perform in adverse weather conditions (i.e. extreme summer heat and extreme winter weather). Candidate must also have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours, Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Competitive pay and excellent benefits.

All Souls Cemetery
Cemetery Counselor: All Souls Cemetery in Germantown, Maryland has an immediate opening for a professional individual with excellent communication skills to assist families in selecting cemetery goods and services. Candidate must also have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Gate of Heaven Cemetery
General Manager: Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland (Aspen Hill) has an immediate opening for a detail oriented professional with excellent supervisory and communication skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the cemetery and other local parish cemeteries. Other duties include:

  • Implementing authorized cemetery goals, objectives, long range plans, budgets, procedures, goods and services
  • Recruiting, hiring and training employees to staff cemetery positions
  • Evaluating individual performance of staff in accordance with existing personnel policies
  • Ensuring cemetery is in compliance with all federal, state and local government regulations, as well as Corporate Policies and Procedures
  • Representing the cemetery in its business activities and relationships with other entities (i.e. other agencies, parishes, clergy, general public and funeral directors)
  • Resolving client complaints and requests.

Candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills – both written and oral. Prior cemetery experience preferred, but not required. Positive management experience required. Candidate must also have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours Monday through Saturday 7:30 to 4:30 PM and have a valid driver’s license. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Assistant Fleet Mechanic: Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington has an immediate opening for an Assistant Fleet Mechanic with a High School Diploma or GED, with 1-year mechanical experience or mechanical vocational training preferred to assist our Fleet Mechanic with repairs and maintenance of vehicles, tractors, backhoes, mowers and other equipment.
