Christian burial is an act of faith that symbolizes our hope in eternal life with Christ. Generations of men and women from every culture and walk of life have embraced the “Catholic way” of funeral planning and burial and found comfort and strength in their bereavement. Although death is an inevitable part of life, it is also the ultimate test of our faith and love. And so, Christ has given his Church to protect and guide us. The local Church quietly offers herself to families of Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia as a refuge and a sanctuary at this time. She tells us that sorrow has meaning, faith brings understanding and prayer unlocks the mystery of the soul. Catholic cemeteries stand as quiet places of faith, hope and love. They are the arms of our Church, holding her children in a tender embrace until the end of time.
